I am writing to you to request a promotion to the position of Team Leader of the Utah Highway Patrol Special Emergency Response Team. I have been with this department for one hundred and thirty one days and have proudly been called an operative of the Special Emergency Response Team for almost as long as I have been a member of Utah Highway Patrol. Throughout my career as a Utah State Trooper, I have gained the rank of Lieutenant and formerly held the rank of Special Emergency Response Team supervisor. I am currently a part of the command team that forms the State Bureau of Investigations and I was once a part of the now decommissioned division, Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic. I am seeking this promotion due to the following characteristics that I possess; firstly I am a very active member of the department and this division, secondly I maintain an air of professionalism and maturity throughout my duties, treating each and every person with respect and courtesy as well as being a welcoming and encouraging role model to cadets and probationary troopers, finally I have extensive knowledge and experience that I gained throughout my career in this department and others similar to it.
First and foremost, I strive to be one of the most active members of the department. Last week, I was ranked fourth in my activity out of the entire department, accumulating over seven hours of shifts. During those shifts I also wrote numerous reports, my total number by the close of the week numbering over twelve. Due to my activity, I feel that I would be perfectly suited for this position as I can host deployments and training daily as well as enrich the department with committed and active leaders.
Secondly, I hold a sense of responsibility to the department as a whole and to this division. I frequently welcome new applicants into the server on a daily basis in the hope that they will feel welcomed into the department. As a Utah Highway Patrol General Support Officer, I customarily assist other troopers and members of the public with questions and concerns. Even in our own department I have assisted confused and struggling cadets and cheered on other operatives as they advanced through their own careers in Utah Highway Patrol. In other divisions, such as the State Bureau of Investigations, I host trainings and hold shifts with other detectives to make them feel like they are truly a part of a division that cares about them and welcomes them. I think that with this position I can go even further in assisting newly accepted cadets and foster a sense of brotherhood in this department.
Subsequently, I am experienced in positions similar to this. As I have mentioned previously, I have held command positions in the State Bureau of Investigations and I have been an Utah Highway Patrol Field Supervisor for several months now. I have also collected experience from other servers that I am a part of, such as being a Massachusetts State Trooper in the Massachusetts State Roleplay community of Emergency Response: Liberty County. I think that I am extremely qualified for this position due to all the past similar duties that I have held.
For all the reasons listed above I believe that I would be an excellent candidate for the position of Special Emergency Response Team Leader. I am active, friendly and professional, and I have lots of experience in similar positions. I hope you consider me in your search to hire an additional Team Leader for the division. Thank you for your time and consideration.
