Good morning, good afternoon and good evening, everyone. What ever time you are watching right now I hope u learn a lot in our report while enjoying it. If you want to review our topic, you can always watch our recording or visit our website (the link is in the comment section below). To start this, I would like to introduce first our team. Let's start with me, Sophia Mer Enriquez, Tristan Jay Fernandez, Vincent Tenorio, Vashi Camu and Sienna Palangdao. Our given topic is " The information age." Ano nga po ba ang information age? Or ano ano po ang meron sa era na ito? So, the information age is associated with the development of computers. Kaya po noong time na ito mas madali na naaccess ng mga tao ang mga informations and knowledge. It began around 1970s and has been active ever since. In this time, a lot of inventions were made and we are glad to introduce few of it to you. The very first invention in this era is the printing press of Johannes Guttenberg. But before that, let's discuss first what is life before this invention or the pre- Gutenberg era. How did the information spread before the printing press? The information spread in a tedious manner. Or mano-mano. Books are written manually. And it was transcribed through clay, papyrus, wax and parchment but only elite group can afford these materials. Due to high prices of materials books are belonged to the upper class. Most often, transmission of informaation relied only through "word-of-mouth". After many years, there comes the gutenberg revolution. It is the term used to express the democratizing effects of the invention of the printing press among society. Democracy was born through the invention of the printing press and the effects it had on society. Since before the printing press, their governments choose only to whom will be given the education to read. It allowed people to have voice who weren’t able to spread their messages before. When the Gutenberg Printing Press arrived, knowledge and education became more accessible and cheaper. Next in our timeline is the invention of the Printing press. Printing press was invented by the "Father of Printing", Johannes Gutenberg an German craftsman and inventor. Printing press is a machine by which text and images are transferred from movable type to paper or other media by means of ink. Through this machine the literacy and education of people in Europe increased. This press also allowed manuscripts to be mass-produced at cheaper price. Most first book printed were religious texts. And the most well-known printed item of this machine is the 42-line"Gutenberg's Bible" that was printed around 1455. The invention of the printing press was marked as the start of mass communication. It allowed people to read the Bible in their own language (Reformation), leaving it free to their interpretation. Unfortunately, Gutenberg lost his printing business in a lawsuit within a few years of his first sale. And Gutenberg’s actual press, the very first printing press, has been lost to history.
